The II International Edition of Art is Action presents a selection of the most influential artists of the 90’s generation of new performance for the first time in Spain. The work of these, generators of debate and controversy, has influenced many artists and thinkers. In addition to the performances, there will be round tables with the artists and selected works will be shown on video. Tania Bruguera Thursday 2 July 20.00 Sala Valle-Inclán? Generic Capitalism III explores the socio-political issues that Tania has been developing in her work. Bruguera has developed what she calls the art of behaviour, in which the visuality of art creates a dialogue between its interactivity and ordinariness. Tania Bruguera is one of the most representative artists in Cuba. Hipermembrana explores the nature of myths, combining elements such as the landscape of Dante’s Inferno, the Minotaur and the eucariotic cell. Marcel•lí Antúnez Roca is a Catalan artist internationally well-known for his mechatronic performances and interactive installations. 'I'm Thinking of You' presents a surreal dream, a romantic vision of childhood fantasy and abandon. Franko B is an Italian-British? artist who works in performance using installation, sculpture, video and sound. After watching the Earth being raped and abused for so many years, they have decided the Earth needs protection and pleasure and in this performance they take the Earth as their lover. Annie Sprinkle, an American artist, is a post-feminist and post-porn activist. She defines herself as a prostitute and porn star turned sex educator and artist. Elizabeth Stephens is a multimedia artist and professor of art at University of California in Santa Cruz. The naked bodies of a man and a woman are the scene of the performance under the attentive eye of a transvestite shaman. Guillermo Gómez-Peña? is a performance artist, writer, activist and teacher. He was born in Mexico and resides in San Francisco.
